The first annual event of the summer is the Milford Music Festival! This event takes place in mid-June and has lots to offer visitors. To start off, admission is FREE, making it a worthwhile trip. Shawnee Riverfest, located just 23 minutes from The Swiftwater, happens in early July each year! This music festival features free entry, along with artists from all over that gather to benefit our community. Stop by to enjoy the free music and views along the Delaware River. If you’re hungry, grab a bite at one of the various food trucks Shawnee Riverfest has to offer! Each year, this event benefits local organizations, like the Pocono Mountains United Way.
The Pocono Township Volunteer Fire Company has hosted its six-day-long annual carnival since 1941, making it a staple to the area. Held on the grounds of the volunteer fire company, this quick 6-minute drive from The Swiftwater is the perfect way to spend your mid-July night! With various carnival rides, a fun house, and food, it’s always a good time. Inside the carnival building, you can also find lots of games and food that 100% benefits the Pocono Township Volunteer Fire Company.
The Wayne County Fair, a one-hour drive from The Swiftwater, has graced the Poconos each year since the 1860s. Since its beginning, the fair has grown and expanded numerous times over the years. Now, over 100,000 visitors stop by to experience the Wayne County Fair each year. Visitors can experience live music, rides, concession stands, demolition derbies, truck pulls, and more!
Since 1920, the West End Fair has brought visitors to the Gilbert area, which is a 27-minute drive from The Swiftwater. When it began, the fair saw about 3,000 visitors, and now welcomes over 180,000 annually. When you arrive, you will be met with agricultural exhibits, entertainment, various contests, vendors, rides, and more! This fair is held annually towards the end of August, making it a great way to end your Summer!
The Greene Dreher Sterling Fair, or the GDS Fair, dates back to 1917 in Newfoundland. What started as a one-day-long event to showcase students’ work is now an annual fair held over ten days at the end of August. With so many days to visit, you can experience it all, from tractor pulls and animal shows to carnival rides and games, it is always a good time. When you visit The Swiftwater, the GDS Fair is only a 28-minute scenic drive away!
StroudFest takes place each year in Downtown Stroudsburg, which is a quick 15-minute drive from The Swiftwater. This Labor Day Weekend kick off closes down Main Street to allow for retail booths, stages, and food vendors! With free parking and admission, this is the perfect way to spend your afternoon and end your summer off right!
The Wally Lake Fest takes place over the last weekend of August each year at Lake Wallenpaupack, only 45 minutes from The Swiftwater. Visitors to Wally Lake Fest will be met with lots of summertime fun, all packed into one weekend! Whether you choose to rent a boat or jet ski, or go on a boat tour, you will experience fun like never before. Wally Lake Fest features live music from the water, local food vendors, jet ski races, paddleboard demonstrations, and so much more!
